Narni / Young mosaic makers won the first prize at the national competition in Aprilia
A group of young artists from
NARNI – Students of the “Arts and Crafts” school, won the “The mosaic treasures” contest in Aprilia, in the “Tenth International Competition of Mark Paniccia”. A great performance by the young artists of the Narni school run by Tiziana Mondini, and winners with the artwork “Next to you”, a bench completely covered by mosaics built with the direct technique, and using polychrome marble. These winners are Anna Ficola, Valentina Vezzani and Patrizio Ravellese”. Michela Baldi with the “Last thoughts” artwork, a wall mosaic using the direct technique, using marble and enamel won the first prize for individuals. The school’s director, Mauro Capocci, and deputy director Luigi Ruggiero are proud of their students and state that “art and craft are the future in Italy.” The training school for mosaic workers and decorators has the purpose to offer the community a place of highly vocational technical training that can contribute to the discovery and qualification of ancient trades and craftsmanship, that can be applied to a modern day globalised labour market, capable of bringing out excellence and enhancing professionalism.
