Narni / Young mosaic makers won the first prize at the national competition in Aprilia
A group of young artists from
NARNI – Students of the “Arts and Crafts” school, won the “The mosaic treasures” contest in Aprilia, in the “Tenth International Competition of Mark Paniccia”. A great performance by the young artists of the Narni school run by Tiziana Mondini, and winners with the artwork “Next to you”, a bench completely covered by mosaics built with the direct technique, and using polychrome marble. These winners are Anna Ficola, Valentina Vezzani and Patrizio Ravellese”. Michela Baldi with the “Last thoughts” artwork, a wall mosaic using the direct technique, using marble and enamel won the first prize for individuals. The school’s director, Mauro Capocci, and deputy director Luigi Ruggiero are proud of their students and state that “art and craft are the future in Italy.” The training school for mosaic workers and decorators has the purpose to offer the community a place of highly vocational technical training that can contribute to the discovery and qualification of ancient trades and craftsmanship, that can be applied to a modern day globalised labour market, capable of bringing out excellence and enhancing professionalism.

The Training Centre “Virgilio Alterocca” vanquished its competitors in Aprilia.
The work “Next to you” of the training centre for Arts and Crafts Virgilio Alterocca won first prize in the tenth international competition “The Treasures of the Mosaic”, held in Aprilia. The project consisted of a bench completely covered in mosaic built with the direct technique, using polychrome marble, by the school’s students, and under the direction of their teacher, Tiziana Mondini. The Centre is directed by Mauro Capocci and Luigi Ruggiero and the artwork was donated to the city of Aprilia, and placed in the library to mark the 80th anniversary of town’s foundation.
“Last thoughts” instead is the title of a wall mosaic made with the direct technique, using marble and enamel, by Michela Baldi, who was awarded first prize in the individual category. Great satisfaction and pride was expressed by the school directors, who see growing operations at their laboratories in Narni; the educational paths not only of mosaic art but also of painted decoration are included within the project “Free Academy for Arts of the City of Narni”.

NARNI, “ARTS AND CRAFTS VIGILIO ALTEROCCA” WINS FIRST PRIZE IN “MARCO PANICCIA” COMPETITION
The training centre for “Arts and Crafts Virgilio Alterocca” directed by Mauro Capocci and Luigi Ruggiero participated in “The Mosaic Treasures”, the tenth edition of the Marco Paniccia international competition. On April 22, the award ceremony was held at the Manz├╣ Hall in Aprilia’s municipal library, which saw the award of first prize for schools go to the artwork “Next to you”, a bench completely covered in mosaic built with the direct technique, using polychrome marble by the students of this school and under the direction of their teacher, Tiziana Mondini. The work was donated to the city of Aprilia and was placed at the municipal library on the occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the city on April 25. “Last thoughts” instead is the title of a wall mosaic made with the direct technique, using marble and enamel, by the student Michela Baldi, who was awarded the first prize in the individual category.
